Meredith Mance, CPM, LDM, IBCLC (SHE/THEY)

Homebirth Midwife & Lactation consultant

As a Mexican-American midwife, I have a deep respect for the transitional periods in life (pregnancy in particular) and the power of personal ritual. I feel very proud to offer Oregon families access to safe homebirth services and empowering care. It is clear from current research and evidence that the Midwifery Model of Care improves health outcomes for all pregnant people and their children, particularly those in marginalized communities. I feel that providing this type of personalized care is an act of social justice - it is a gateway to breaking cycles of generational trauma and grief and reclaiming our rights as autonomous humans with unique needs. I am committed to offering individualized and compassionate care, which has the power to help families feel supported and uplifted in their own identities and journeys.

I provide LGBTQ+ positive midwifery care and passionately believe in both reproductive justice and individual empowerment. While brainstorming the values I wanted to infuse into this practice I came up with this list:

  • Community - I seek to foster a sense of support and connection for all parents.

  • Integrity - Honesty and wholeheartedness are essential for good care relationships.

  • Trust - I believe in slow and intentional trust development between providers and clients.

  • Warmth - I believe in bringing a sense of friendliness and kindness to my care.

  • Growth - I believe that in order to thrive, people need room to change and develop.

  • Magic - I know that everyday experiences are wrapped up in magic, and birth is no exception.

Meredith is a Certified Professional Midwife and Lactation Consultant living in McMinnville, OR. She started her midwifery journey in 2012 in Austin, TX. After several years in the film industry, she was drawn toward documentary work that focused on access to reproductive healthcare in Texas. She was immediately drawn to birth work and the opportunity to provide respectful options for birthing people in their childbearing year.

She began training as a midwife through the state-licensed, Association of Texas Midwives' Midwifery Training Program, where she was lucky enough to apprentice with a variety of CPMs and CNMs from around the globe, which exposed her to a variety of styles and models of care. After receiving her license in Texas in 2017, she served as a Staff Midwife and Birth Assistant Supervisor at Austin Area Birthing Center, one of the largest freestanding birth centers in the US. During her midwifery journey, Meredith began to see the need for continued support farther into the postpartum period. In order to better support families in meeting their feeding goals, she became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2018. Through her lactation work, she helps families gain the confidence they need to navigate the early years of parenthood.

Meredith is also fluent in Spanish and loves the opportunity to provide care to families in their native language. Coming from a Mexican-American family, she has firsthand experience of the social and health issues her community faces. She feels strongly that an empowered and respectful birth can reshape the way we approach our health, family, and society. She is honored to be able to serve Oregon families during these transformative periods!

Meredith relocated to McMinnville in 2018 with her husband, Tim, where they have fallen in love with Oregon! When not supporting families, she loves spending time outdoors on long hikes, reading anything she can get her hands on, and cooking new cuisines. She is honored to be able to continue serving families here in Oregon!
